Experimental design that survives peer review: endpoint selection, power analysis, control strategy, and blinding. We also build automated phenotyping pipelines — pose tracking, gait analysis, behavioural scoring — so your readouts are objective and repeatable.
Single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, cell–cell signalling analysis, confocal image quantification, and statistical modelling. Everything is delivered as a documented, reproducible pipeline plus publication-ready figures — not a folder of one-off scripts.

For those evaluating it
An independent read on a company's science before you invest. We assess whether the data genuinely supports the claim: experimental rigour, sample sizes, controls, reproducibility risk, and how much of the story rests on results that would not survive replication. Delivered as a written opinion with a clear verdict, not a hedged summary.
Landscape work for funds moving into a therapeutic area they do not yet staff: which mechanisms are genuinely differentiated, which are crowded, which have quietly failed elsewhere, and what the realistic path to clinic looks like for each.
Your own data, examined the way a sceptical investor's expert will examine it — before they do. We tell you which claims are defensible, which are overstated, and what additional experiment would most cheaply close the gap.

Most consultancies give you one or the other. Mados was founded on the view that translational questions need both voices in the room from day one.
Co-founder — Clinical & Translational
Ed is an emergency medicine physician. EM trains a specific kind of judgement: rapid assessment on incomplete information, and a low tolerance for claims that outrun the evidence actually in front of you. He brings that to Mados as the clinical read — whether a finding means anything at the bedside, and whether a programme's endpoints reflect how patients genuinely present.
Co-founder — Preclinical & Computational
Miguel is a neuroscientist working at the interface of wet-lab and computational biology. His doctoral work in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at Stony Brook University examined the interplay between the central nervous system's innate immune response and oligodendroglial lineage cells in major depressive disorder — combining single-cell transcriptomics, confocal imaging and quantification, and automated behavioural phenotyping in preclinical models.
How it started
Ed and Miguel met as freshmen on the Marist College men's swimming and diving team in 2015, and spent the next four years training together — early mornings, double sessions, and the MAAC Championships every February. Both studied biology. Both spent the hours between practices in the same lecture halls and the same labs.
Miguel swam freestyle and backstroke, taking MAAC titles in the 500 free as a sophomore and the 200 free as a senior, and captaining the team in his final year. Ed swam breaststroke and made the MAAC All-Academic team in each of his last three seasons. They swam the 400-yard medley relay together — a record that still stands in the Marist book.
They graduated in 2019 and went in opposite directions: Ed into emergency medicine, Miguel into a PhD. Mados is those two paths converging again — with a working relationship of more than a decade behind it.
Mados takes its name from its founders — Madeira and Oser.

We do not pretend to cover every discipline ourselves. Mados works with a network of consultants across adjacent fields, brought onto an engagement when the question genuinely calls for them — and named to you when they are.
How we work
A free first conversation to establish what you actually need — which is often not what the initial brief says. You leave that call with a written scope, a timeline, and a fixed price.
We do the work with regular check-ins rather than a silent handover at the end. If the data changes the question, we tell you early instead of delivering an answer you can no longer use.
You receive everything: the analysis, the code, the figures, the documentation — or, for a diligence engagement, a written opinion that states a position plainly enough to act on. All of it yours, none of it locked to us.
Confidential by default. We work under NDA as standard, and we decline any engagement where we hold a position, a prior relationship, or a competing mandate that would compromise an independent opinion. If we cannot give you a straight answer, we will tell you before you pay for one.
